Waddell is an unincorporated community in Maricopa County at about 1,200 feet of elevation, with its own ZIP code, 85355. Donald Ware Waddell laid out the town site in 1935 at Waddell Road and Cotton Lane. The town never really developed, but the post office and the name stuck.

As Surprise and Glendale have grown, the Waddell name has faded on maps, though it remains on Waddell Road and the New Waddell Dam.
